Seeking Community ArtsandBlues Posted On 9/27/2009, Last Updated On 10/17/2009 Is being young and strong, or affluent, all that really matters? I've met a lot of 40-year-olds with plenty to contribute for their 20 years of adult experience. At age 60, with 40 years of adulthood behind me, I have plenty to offer too. I have, knowledge, perspective, hindsight, clarity, regret and sadness, enthusiasm, and maybe some wisdom born of making mistakes and dealing with them. Email Address: I can't carry the heavy physical load but I'm healthy, still look d**n good, and I bring a stable retirement income. I can teach you or you children how to paint, or sing, or play guitar, make a pot of chili or bake bread. I can stay up all night when you're sick or lonely and need a friend. I know how to do a lot of things but most of all I can be there. I'm seeking community - tribe, family, place. I bring income, my own creature comforts, an open mind and a willing heart. Edit: some of the responses have been couples looking for a unicorn for FMF but, too bad, I would be another M. Community Forming ElderCommune Posted On 11/10/2008, Last Updated On 10/17/2009 We're seeking elders, people over age 45, to form a communal living situation meeting the social/financial/relationship needs of active, healthy, mature people. We have a house and land but are very open to relocation within/outside the US. Everything is possible if we think outside the box. Starting a Community??? Email Address: If you're looking for land and finding high prices I just want to offer the suggestion of looking at Mecklenburg County Virginia. A beautiful, rural county of only 35,000 people that's over 2 hours south of Richmond and over an hour and a quarter over the border of Va/Nc to Raleigh. In other words not too close to a big city but not way far away either. Some recent ads for good-sized parcels include 136 acres asking $195,000 and 167 acres asking $315,000 both with owner financing and both are ASKING prices and even 89 acres asking $169,000 - this puts you in the $1,500 an acre range or even less at final sales prices I believe. I have no ties to realtors and I have nothing to sell. Would just like to see an intentional community locate somewhere near here - a big plus is the eight hundred mile shoreline Buggs Island Lake or Kerr Reservoir - whichever name you prefer, nearby. Farms, old dairy farms, lots of acreage available, a small population, there's lots of deer, turkey, fishing, beautiful countryside and over an hour or two to major cities - to me Mecklenburg County Virginia should be looked at!! Check out the nice small town of Clarksville on the lake. Good Hunting. Search for a posting Disclaimer-- |
