Seeking Community Cecilia Posted On 11/4/2009, Last Updated On 11/4/2009
Hi ! I m an active, easy-going 62 year old woman, originally from New Orleans who is very eco-minded. I m seriously seeking an ic, preferrably one that may have already found the land, r in the process of being close to that stage, to build a small, as off the grid as possible home in, but also possibly open to a shared housing arrangement, as well. I enjoy writing, art, music, n cooking & gardening. I would love to hear from u, as to what your particular project r plan 4 community is. I m open to new ideas, n to many areas, especially those with a more seasonal climate. I m also considering locales outside of the usa as well. I m up 4 a new adventure, n enjoy like-minded friends, n being part of a team effort ! Blessings Beaucoup, Cecilia

Community Forming Coyote Ridge Farm: An Affordable Adult Community. Posted On 7/13/2009, Last Updated On 11/3/2009
Grow old along with me!
The best is yet to be.
The last of life, for which the first was made…
--Robert Browning

We are two friends, 54 and 62 years old. After investigating adult communities, and finding them very expensive and not really reflective of our social and eco-friendly values, we are exploring creating a community.

We are writers, artists, organic gardeners, quiet, considerate, tolerant, liberal, progressive. We love nature, reading, animals, art, honesty, humor.

We own and live on a beautiful 52-acre farm in central Alabama, near Birmingham, consisting of mature forest and rolling pasture, with a creek and swimming hole. We have built a small cabin, have a big organic garden and are converting an old barn into an art studio. We enjoy a year-round growing season.

Our idea: A community of 8–12 households in small-footprint, ecologically-friendly homes. A place where people who came of age during an idealistic time aren’t forced to abandon their way of being—of relating respectfully and meaningfully to other people and to nature—by the realities of getting older in difficult economic times.

Wheelchair friendly.

We welcome discussions with those who are interested. We would like to share more about the land and our plans, and hear your ideas as well.

We prefer phone calls as a way to connect. We have free long-distance, so feel free to ask us to call you right back.

Seeking adventurous and well traveled people to form an elder community in the Guadalajara, Mexico area

I'm interested in progressive minded people to form a neighborhood cooperative with a close knit social system, saving money by pooling resources and live a better life than what's available in the U.S. Like me, you've traveled extensively and consider yourself a citizen of the world rather than just an American and disenchanted with American society. And you are definitely more adventurous than the average American if you're considering moving to a foreign country.

I've traveled around the world and had a desire to emigrate for the past 5 years. I've decided 2010 is the time to follow my dream to emigrate!

I am interested in forming a community of rental housing (rather than buying) as many people (especially now) are not in a financial situation to buy property and you can rent in Mexico as cheaply as buying. The community would consist of 3 to 6 households in a regular middle class Guadalajara neighborhood. The environment would be designed for ages 50 plus and ideal for those with little or no social support system like myself and pet oriented. Mexico offer better options for health care compared to the expensive and unattainable American health system especially now during the difficult economic times.

Most of the senior communities in Mexico are quite expensive for those of us without a hefty pension, 401K and/or spouse support and don't necessarily

Seeking Community perhaps Oregon or Hawaii Posted On 8/18/2009, Last Updated On 10/31/2009
I'm seeking a spiritual but not religious community. I prefer to learn of the God Who created the universe and my purpose, without putting that God in a little religious box designed by the traditions of men.

Also, I am looking for a FAIR work/trade agreement that allows me to earn extra cash with my FREE time, either with you or elsewhere. I am not afraid of hard work, I like eating bulk beans and rice (organic preferred), I enjoy living in canvas tents, teepees or log cabins.

I am not cheap labor for hire. I believe "common" vision requires mutual respect.

I enjoy organic gardening and farming, and just good ole basic work necessary to survive. I am a musician, writer, I enjoy taking a boat out on the lake too.

Sincerely

An Intentional house in the historic West End area of Atlanta, GA (just minutes from Downtown and the highway) has a room opening.

We're a social justice focused house that works within and without on social issues.

We are a diverse group, ages, ideas, race, ethnicies, sexualities...

To help balance out the house a bit we're intentionally seeking a new house mate. White or Latina (actually any race, ethinicity other than African-American). Someone whose over 30 years of year and interested in living in a co-owned, co-shared housing situation and willing to agree to 'try it out' for a least a year.

The house is still forming around ownership and how that looks/works. So you can jump in on the ground floor if that's what interest you. Especially interested in those who want to be co-owners but not a set in stone.

We engage in community activities that we try to do together on a regular basis - so seeking someone whose committed to that process and willing to spend a minimum of 5 hours a week with co-housemates and housing issues.

We will consider ANYONE who falls outside of the above but that's the 'ideal' in just a balance sense but not written in stone. Other things could certainly outweigh the need for balance. We also need balance in age. So a 50+ male would also be of interest.

Room available NOW!
