Cute Communal Cottage in the Country
hi there!
we are two houses of 8.5 people 8 miles outside of sebastopol (in wooded coastal Nor Cal) on beautiful acreage (part of a larger IC). we are trying to live as sustainably & communally as we know how. the rooms are small and there’s only one composting toilet, but we do have a all the usual amenities of a house including wi-fi and wood heat. but we are not a normal house: we live very communally and do most things together including cooking, cleaning, food processing, construction projects, crafts, harvesting, caring for our goats and chickens, reading, etc. so we are looking for people who like doing things with people most of the time. we are also interested in exploring some form of mini house sized egalitarianism (like uhm a family) possibly.
about us: we are very non-conventional and think quite differently from the dominate culture. but we really like people and like having fun/being silly but not “partying”. we love learning new things both intellectually and experientially. we generally have lot’s of people in the house because we have friends, wwoofers, couch-serfers that come stay. we have very local jobs so we are almost always home and NPR or music is almost always on. but we are also very respectful of other people’s needs and can be quiet or vacate the house sometimes if needed. we're young enough to be openminded and have fun but old enough to be serious and listen and able to get things done.
come ASAP!

The Sanctuary is set on 120 acres of wooded rolling hills in Southern Indiana. We have almost no debt and currently generate positive revenues.

We raise elk, buffalo, chickens on the ranch and, there is abundant wildlife all around our place.

Think of the diet here as that of our great great grandparents. For some of you, your great, great, great grand parents, providing they lived out west during the mid 1800's.

Here we eat, Elk and Buffalo that we raise ourselves on site, Venison from the local deer population, grass fed beef from the local farmers. There is a farmers market an hour away here, we can buy most greens and vegetables that are in season. Rice, lentils and beans is a daily staple at the ranch. We have a grow room where we grow sprouts and wheat grass for green drinks and as our food.

Currently on the farm we grow grapes, we have 1000 plants and 7 varieties that are now 5 years old and considered mature. We also have black berries, raspberries and blueberries that we planted this past year.

Growing wild here are several persimmon trees that have a wonderful sweet fruit.

Presently we plant a few acres of sweet corn and have lined out a new area for a 3 acre organic garden. The ponds on site is loaded with dish, turtles and frogs.

The buildings & housing are in place for living. There are still certain issues to workout. We have jobs for people that can work with little direction. We have room for a person to be the general manager of the operations.

Seeking Community RawFoodDude Posted On 11/9/2009, Last Updated On 11/10/2009
I am a 26 year old male seeking a self-sustainable community where no monthly fee is required, but only hard work. I am currently volunteering at the local farm to acquire some basic organic farming skills. My ideal is naturally to join the appropriate community for me. I prefer a community that is progressive in their ideals, although I am generally open-minded and accepting of those who are likewise the same. I have a certain disdain for the corporate world and seek a group of like-minded people who are non-conforming, despise labels and could care less about the needs of CEO's. Wholesome organic foods (preferably RAW) is a must for me :). I love the peace that I feel when I'm out in the field weeding underneath the sunshine and breathing in fresh air. Adding that along with a tightly knit community of accepting individuals would be as close to a utopia as I could ever envision.

Life becomes ever increasingly stagnant when it suddenly dawns on you that the material world erected by an oligarchical madhouse is nothing short of illusory. My questioning of this began in my early teens of which I am delighted to have been enlightened at such an age. Of course, finding the correct environment where the non-conforming progressive's reside is absolutely essential to break through this plateau.

Do contact me whether you are seeking community or are seeking new members. I'd like to network with as many individuals with the same underlying passion for interconnectedness.
