Was it only a short moment in time when some of us tried to make a change by giving up the post-industrial mindset that destroyed the simplicity of living; the dream of a sustainable community?

As a creative individual, with skills in many areas, I am at times, too open-minded for this compartmentalized world. I agree with sustainability; conservation is good thing, when balanced with realistic and attainable goals.

To me, this means having electricity, warm beds, dry floors, healthy food, occasional online access, labor to keep from growing flabby, books & periodicals, intelligent conversation and above all, purposeful communal cooperation, as well as a location free from blizzards, hurricanes, shopping malls and malaria.

I have sent introductions to a number of communities and received a small, few replies. A few individuals have contacted me, some with similar desires, goals and dreams.

To work to survive, to assist, to teach and to learn, that should be the result. Not individually, but in an environment where you are rewarded beyond personal satisfaction; with positive change for all.

I have assets in reserve and much choice, but I am growing stagnant, literally and figuratively. I am forty-something, positive, healthy, freethinking, tolerant, clean, stable and mature, with no obligations.

"You may say, I'm a dreamer..."

The site:https://sites.google.com/site/farmsforgrazingandgrowing/

I am looking for a core group to buy a farm ( focusing on Virginia/mid Atlantic for growing season/rain fall rates/water available). Ideally I would like to have myself and 2 or??others with like resources for the project. $50-$150 k down (each) to pay off the parcel up front. All of us will need to have the financial ability to bring the property up to snuff and the project to fruition with minimal additional outlay.. I am looking for something to do and work with some structures and land. Ideally, the property will be reasonably priced and need some TLC. My goal is (as always) to use my skills and drive to soak in the necessary sweat equity to acquire value for $. In this market we may be able to find something that needs minimal initial work, that would obviously be desirable.
I have recently sold a resort hostel/motel on a popular beach that was my bread, butter and breakfast for 15 years. I seriously would like to get my hands dirty again and feed some animals, put up some fence and grow some stuff to eat with some cool, solid people.I am a mindful, grounded person, not religious
I am looking for individuals who have some skills and ideas and have realized some of their goals and dreams and would like to get started as partners for some peace of mind on a parcel of land!
Let me know a bit about yourself and if this resonates with you.

Steve Hopwood just posted a note, looking for a "survivalist type" community. He raises a good point.
The world economy is in great distress these days. And with the gross over spending by gov't in the US, our economy just may fail.
Whatever our various social and political points of view may be, one thing is certain, being prepared for hard times is becoming a necessity.
I suggest you all spend some time everyday reading www.survivalblog.com. It is the single best source of information on how to prepare for and survive/thrive in difficult times, no matter what their cause.
Survivalblog also has listings of communities and folks looking for members and communities.

I'm looking for a survivilist type community that thinks that the U.S. Government is on the brink of collaspe. This community can't be one of those gun toting, shoot 'em up branch davidians on the one hand but it also can't be one of those politicaly correct, femminist dominated communities on the other.Somewheres in between would be just fine for me. So if anybody out there knows of one that fit my description please let me know.Thank you
