Seeking others willing to work and learn skills in sustainable simplicity and who have experience to offer in growing food, carpentry, and care for the land to join me in sharing farm operations on a small organic orchard and berry farm in the mountains of N.C.One & 1/2 hr. NE of Asheville. In the spirit of Peter Maurin and Dorothy Day offer hospitality and training in sustainable vocations, agriculture and energy. Housing:Building on other cabin sites or renovation of existing barn or winterizing intern cabin, all without utilites or indoor plumbing as is the case for the main house. Outhouse, outside hot shower, pure mountain creek water, heating and cooking on wood stoves. Lighting from oil lamps and 2 small solar panels. Existing operations can be expanded through continued conversion to permaculture and combined energies for shared vision based on the conviction that the continuation of traditional indigenous knowledge is crucial for planetary survival.
An immediate need is to train someone who is comfortable and responsible with woodstoves, hauling water and caring for 6 chickens, 2 dogs and cats to be here covering for me during the month of January.

SEEKING responsible man or woman to live with me right now in my country home in order to help me take care of my 6 housepets, clean, etc. (no heavy work required but should be able to drive) and also help me form a vegan community here on my beautiful 31 acres in NW Arkansas between Ft Smith and Fayetteville (approx 40 miles to each), right on Oklahoma border, in the Boston mountains and Ozark hardwood forest. i am 63, good shape still, try to be a serious student of paramahansa yogananda, and consider myself to be a kind, generous, compassionate, honest, thoughtful, competent, responsible, well-educated, artist-type of a person. additionally, i do not watch television, and we would be sleeping in the same room (i have a couch that folds into a larger comfortable bed). property is located in a very pretty 'holler' valley, rugged terrain, still wild, not many folks live around here, on state road, abundant clean spring water (locally well-known mountain springs on property), half property hardwoods, nut trees (many black walnuts), dogwoods, redbuds, caves, caverns, large elevated springfed pond, creeks all around, two excellent functioning wells, 2 larger propane tanks. the foundation has been laid for a smaller organic fruit and veggie farm with numerous variety of fruit trees (peach, pear, plum, apple) planted by myself on a fulltime basis over 13 year period all around house, and also many other trees like oaks, redbuds, various willows, etc. i am living in a 900 sq ft older but cozy home here that does need quite a bit of work to it (am rebuilding it now), but it is still quite livable as i live in it now with 4 smaller, peaceful dogs and two cats. i have good hot water and a shower and bath and a good kitchen and much food preparation stuff and food as well and i am an excellent vegan chef. also there are 4 decent and solid outbuildings, 5 decent but smaller trailers and campers (all need varying degrees of work, none totally livable now); however, propane, water, electricity lines are installed to one trailer that is older but pretty nice with a good foundation under it, and strapped down well, on a cute creek near woods behind house, and it is somewhat livable now, and it also has a working furnace, stove, and refrigerator. all are being used for storage now; i have 3 older tractors, a good, big tiller, cars and a truck and van.there are mild winters here, and rich, dark soil but generally rocky. property has been 100% paid off for many years, and taxes are only $160 per year total since i homestead the property. I enjoy writing, art, music, n cooking & gardening. I would love to hear from u, as to what your particular project r plan 4 community is. I m open to new ideas, n to many areas, especially those with a more seasonal climate. I m also considering locales outside of the usa as well. I m up 4 a new adventure, n enjoy like-minded friends, n being part of a team effort ! Blessings Beaucoup, Cecilia
