Seeking Community Ron Posted On 9/30/2008, Last Updated On 1/7/2009
If you are community that feels my interests and experience might be a fit for each of us, please write or call. I'm 65, single father of two grown daughters, worked in various fields; carpentry, cabinetry, electrical, plumbing, remodeling, water treatment, surveying, millwright, sales (some as a contractor, some as an employee & supervisor) Owned horses, cattle, goats, rabbits and chickens. Every year I cultivated a large garden, gathered wild nuts, berries and raided abandoned orchards. My beliefs are a Yankee conservativism, mutualism, non violence, objectivity, compassion, cooperation, and non-competition. I respect all life and objects. My primary interests lie in reading & discussion, mechanical, natural and social systems, building & land use, animal husbandry, permiculture, silviculture. I am particularly interested is goat and rabbit husbandry, water utilization, renewable energy/power. My life experiences and education may also be of value to younger or less experienced members of your community. I very much like to work with younger people and witness the enthusiasm that is generated as they learn new things. I am looking for an intentional community to become involved in. Living in a multi-generational community with other like-minded, or at least diversely-minded, objective and compassionate people involved with community, nature, gardening, animal husbandry and other projects that work toward a more sustainable lifestyle greatly interests me. Sincerely, Ron

Community Forming Bill Posted On 1/6/2009, Last Updated On 1/6/2009
Exploring Possibilities in the Lake George, NY area.

I've no experience with IC, but am interested in connecting with folks who are reading the same writing on the wall as I am. Looks to me like small communities may be the social organization standard of the mid-twenty first century.
Sittin' on 135 ac. three miles from pavement and power poles, mostly wooded and rough, but with aprox. 2 ac in various forms of cultivation, some requiring serious manpower to rejuvenate. Stream & pond that has supported a captive trout population in the recent past. Off grid, solar powered house. Community scale biodiesel from WVO operation. Barn/workshop/studio. Short growing season and long winters.
I'm 51 w/a 9 yr old son, interested in a sustainable lifestyle and independence from the insanity that seems to be the norm these days. I eat pretty much whatever is in front of me. Love my guitar and my books.
Anybody want to brainstorm?

Community With Opening Song Posted On 1/6/2009, Last Updated On 1/6/2009
Hey folks.... happy new year to you all!

Myself and a few fun loving nice communitarians are living out at our land right outside of Gainesville, FL.

We're looking for folks that play well with others and that would like to help cocreate something really special. We're on 90+ acres of land bordering a tranquil river.

I'm personally into music, music and more music with a dash of infinite love.
But honestly projects ranging from sustainable farming, permaculture, eco friendly housing as well as learning to let go of all the junk we learned in highschool are all available and happening to one degree or the other.

well please give us a call and lottsa love to you all!

Community With Opening Coyote Ridge Farm Posted On 1/4/2009, Last Updated On 1/4/2009
52-Acre Community Seeking Input and Connections with Similarly-Thinking People.

We are two mature friends interested in expanding our community of like-minded individuals and families. We envision 10 households. Small, eco-friendly homes. Peace, quiet, multi-generational, interesting discussions, fresh ideas, acts of kindness. A huge organic garden (or a working organic farm) that would feed the community and others. Eventually off grid.

Who we are: Two friends. Writers, artists, carpenters, technical writers, organic gardeners. We are quiet, considerate, tolerant, liberal, progressive. We love nature, reading, animals, art, honesty, humor. We love our cats. (No kids.)

About the land: Partly mature forest, partly rolling pasture. Creek and swimming hole that have never run dry. We have built a small cabin and are converting an old barn into an art studio. Hiring a contractor to build a cabin or cottage is surprisingly inexpensive here in Alabama due to very low labor costs. We’ve put in organic gardens and enjoy a year-round growing season. We are planting trees.

There is a small town with grocery, etc. three miles away and a university town approx. 15 miles away. For those who must work off the land, Birmingham, Tuscaloosa and Montgomery are an hour or so away. Tuscaloosa is also a university town.
