Seeking Community Joshua Fillmore Posted On 10/9/2008, Last Updated On 10/9/2008 Hi again, I posted last spring and was delighted to receive a number of kind replies offering work on a variety of projects ranging from caretaker positions, green building at spiritual communities and a place to pitch a tent. Thank you. Email Address: Phone: 717-303-9978 Since then, I have been painting historic buildings in Carlisle, PA and have come full circle. I am seeking a caretaker position and/or spiritual community, focused on sustainable living practices, the arts and consensus decision-making with opportunities to earn money within or outside of the community. I have experience with grant writing, light construction, interior/exterior painting, landscaping, street theatre and event planning. I have plenty of ideas for networking, creating alternative economies and using the arts as a catalyst for social change. I also have some old handtools that I'd like to try out and the basic carpentry tool box. Some of my recent adventures include 3 months in New Orleans as a volunteer for Plenty International based on The Farm in Summertown, TN and helping to found a local discussion/social action group in Carlisle, PA. I've visited a half dozen communities over the years including Twin Oaks, Arcosanti, Windspirit, Heathcote and Sirius for various workshops or events. I am vegetarian, hard-working, not afraid to get dirty, a skilled percussionist, meticulous, prefer to do dishes, know how to use a broom and dust pan and function best when working with other motivated, kind people. I am seeking employment and living quarters. 8-10 hours worktrade for a tentspot and 20-30 hours paid CASH would be ideal! I am a good laborer and know how to mind my own business. I am NOT interested in being used by "commonpurse" or WWOOFer loving communities. I desire to be paid FAIRLY for my LABOR minus what is a fair exchange for a tentspot or housing. A good hand is hard to find. I am actually interested in REAL work (minus straining myself of course). I prefer to be paid CASH because I desire to live completely off the grid and out of this world's system, and to mention that I watched a video which explained that f.i. taxes should be taken from company profits, not employee wages (I'm no expert on this stuff, but their is a corrupt system in use and I prefer CASH). Could you use some dependable help? I have lived at a few communities (communes) that seem to be ever willing to put you to work right away 6 days per week, as well as exert a subtle unhealthy control over peoples lives. I still would like to live as part of a tribe or village eventually, but I have not found the right one YET. I shall continue to search for the truth and simple meaning of life, wherever that leads. I am ready to move to the place of opportunity. Thank You, Edward Email Address: P.S. I have a valid d.l., welcome a background check, & can supply references if necessary. I have no criminal record whatsoever, I do not drink, and I do not do drugs period. Community Forming R.F. Posted On 10/8/2008, Last Updated On 10/8/2008 Greetings, Email Address: I am a Black (African-American), who was once looking for an afro-centric, non-religious, peaceful, rural vegetarian community. Well, I didn't find it, so I decided to create one. E-mail r.fletcher@hotmail.com if you are interested in living on 200 wooded acres in the country. I am here and waiting.
